• 2007, September 4 - Come out Friday!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Nightlight last month! This Friday we will be playing with Sweater Weather, a fine Chapel Hill band who recently won the annual UNC vs. Duke Battle of the Bands. They're great, and we're excited to support their CD release. Also joining the bill are our Bu Hanan brothers, The Prayers and Tears of Arthur Digby Sellers. Perry has been working on some new songs, so be sure not to miss them either. Finally, we've added another show in October. We will be playing with The Great White Jenkins at Nightlight October 3rd.

• 2007, August 16 - Back in Chapel Hill

It's nice to be back in Chapel Hill after a summer of bumming around like the laziest tourist in the world. Go productivity! After a week of work I'll be listlessly longing for lazy days doing nothing again. By the way, check out our upcoming shows!

• 2007, March 20 - Tour photos

Check out our myspace blog for photos and notes from DKD's tour.

• 2007, March 2 - Tour preparations

John's getting ready to go out on DKD's tour which will be like running around in a rather big circle all the way across the United States from sea to shining sea. In preparation for the trip, he does a victory dance at the end of every mind-numbing day of his temp job, proving once and for all that a continental u-turn proves more desirable than fluorescent lighting and alphabetization. Who would have ever thought?

• 2007, February 24 - Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who made it out to the Local 506 last night. It was a very special evening for the entire bu_hanan family!

• 2007, February 17 - Exciting news...

Despite almost complete silence during five months, many exciting things have been going on for Kapow! Music. Here are some of them:

- Our new E.P. Trees has finally arrived from the manufacturer after some technical difficulties. The release date and other details are still up in the air.

- Never ones to rest on our laurels, we have begun working on our next L.P. tentatively titled Home Is Just A Four-Letter Word.

- A demo of "Joan, Hank and Serge," a track from this forthcoming full-length, has been sent to Deborah in Bordeaux to be a part of Louis Liard's annual music edition. Take a listen at Myspace.

- Our web-released album from 2006, Ambient: Music For Videogames, has been featured in the latest edition of _volutions magazine.

- The whole Bu Hanan Collective was featured on the cover of this week's Independent. Read it! It's pretty interesting, if I do say so myself, and more or less accurate.

- And finally, Kapow! Music's John Ribo will be manning the electric guitar for David Karsten Daniels as DKD tours the U.S. in support of his new record Sharp Teeth. DKD will be hitting the road with Arbouretum! Stops will include South by Southwest for the FatCat showcase with Vashti Bunyan and sessions for Daytrotter.

That's it for now. Take care!

• 2006, October 21 - The calm...

All may seem quiet on the Kapow! Music front. Yet cd's are being made in factories; web sites are being redesigned; wheels are spinning; gears are cranking.

• 2006, June 30 - Summer tour plans

David Karsten Daniels and I will be going out on a little tour beginning the first week of August. check out the shows section for dates and venues.

• 2006, June 12 - In a Week, I Will be Older

Thanks to all who came to the 506 show a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to Glenn, too, for supporting local music and being a great guy. While thanks are being handed out, we must also thank the people of Vintage 21 for some great barbecue and hospitality at their monthly cookout. It was a lot of fun to play to dancing toddlers! Despite my bandmates' assumption that my akward banter should have made me ashamed, I thoroughly enjoyed playing in a low-key, relaxed setting and stand by all my comments.

David Karsten Daniels' new album is ready to be sent to manufacturing this week. The album is great and features all the members of the bu_hanan collective and Aimee Argote from des_ark.

we are currently putting all the final touches on the new kapow! music ep due out early 2007. It will be called "trees" and features songs we have been playing at recent shows and some yet to be performed live. we have also begun recording the next full length, which will be released later than any optimistic time frames I set out here.

• 2006, February 5 - Returning Doubly Strong

Someone else is calling themselves kapow!. I guess we're supposed to get knives and fight it out michael-jackson-and-his-break-dancing-gangster-cohort style. Juridical knives? Perhaps we'll just politely agree to bilaterally change our band names, creating a demilitarized zone in the logosphere of silly band names. Free play of signifiers my arse!

i am working on the soundtrack of a film sure to be a blockbuster, Water Taxi 2007. The film is set in the future and features a terrorist plot to drop a gigantic sugar bomb on Hong Kong in order to gum up the world's technology and destroy freedom, liberty, justice and late capitalism. The kicker is that there's this walrus at the Hong Kong Zoo who's diabetic. Will the lowly water taxi and his friends save occidental hegemony, unnecessary technology, and this poor, sweet walrus? Filming begins this summer in lovely Richmond, VA and Sevilla, Spain - chosen for their obvious affinities with Hong Kong. Stay tuned...

In other news, kapow! will be playing Wednesday, March 1 at the Wetlands with label-mates the Prayers & Tears of Arthur Digby Sellers and Oklahoma's finest group of rocking Quixote scholars, Ester Drang. We've been dying to ask them just what the absence of that "n" signifies.
